Celebrate Summer Fruit
Summer fruit is still abundant in the foothills and now
is the time to take advantage of it! You can pick up delicious,
ripe fruit from the farmers market and freeze it for smoothies
to enjoy long past the season.
Adding kombucha and yogurt gives this smoothie an extra
probiotic boost, and the booch adds the perfect effervescent sparkle.
But don’t forget to chew! To get the full benefits of this
gut healthy smoothie, don’t just slurp the smoothie down.
Chewing signals the release of salivary amylase, which breaks down
the fruit into nutrients that our bodies can absorb and utilize.
This smoothie can be easily adapted with whatever fruit you can find:
nectarines, cherries, figs, plums and more!
Summer Fruit Probiotic Smoothie
– handful of frozen strawberries
– handful of frozen peaches
– half of a frozen banana
– 2 spoonfuls of plain yogurt
– 1/2 bottle Cherry Blossom or Blueberry Bliss kombucha
– optional additions: spoonful of coconut or cashew butter,
collagen peptides, frozen zucchini, greens, chia seeds
– sliced fresh peaches for bottom
Put all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
You may need to add more or less kombucha to get your desired consistency.
Put fresh sliced peaches on the bottom of the glass to enjoy after your last slurp.
